My Birthday Party
I had butterflies and my little mind jostling with new ideas, as my birthday was nearing, I had to get everything arranged from my room to invitations to the end of the day. Whole affair had taken my thought process towards this big day. It was the day I was turning thirteen a sweet beginning into my teens. It was delight to see my friends coming over to my birthday party. I had visualized birthday with my friends, some from my own class, some old pals and some neighbourhood buddies. Excitement was bound to happen and thrill of enjoying with friends was more than the gifts, I would have received. I was stepping into teen shoes as I was doing away with my twelfth year and was entering in thirteenth year, a year marked in synonymous with flutter of girls and boys together. The friends were jetting in, hands packed with well thought over gifts, some they would have liked to keep it to themselves. I was full of smiles and with warm welcoming gesture I would make them comfortable in my zone of living that is my room. I had just got my room finished with light blue and dark blue paint and it was looking great, setting mood to the whole affair. The task had just finished a day before my birthday.
Day before Amey had shown his interest in his class buddy, He could not keep up this secret of his away from us, it was kind of surprise and amusing to learn what Amey was going to do next. Amey was all set to propose his girlfriend, with butterflies fluttering in his stomach, he was trying to snatch the moment of deliverance. During break hour when we all were having lunch, Arusha was sitting quietly on the swing perhaps looking forward to the pro which she might have felt coming to her. Amey rose and in a moment, he was sitting beside her on that swing and had proposed. From a distance we all could see both getting comfortable and talking sweetly to each other. Adi, yash , Ash and bunch of other kids were spying and whispering thru ears if anything caught our eyes. This had given a fresh entertainment, a curious new look into our innocent lives of our childhood. On my birthday, it was reunion of these souls of my friends at my place, all the more exciting for the day.
Friends continued dropping at my place; this was the longest day party. I had arranged for my friends with great lunch, a game at amoeba, cake cutting event, with football game and all other odd things spiced up with the western music, played from my own collection. The atmosphere was just right to suffuse the musical chords of our teenage hood. Four of us were in my room when Adi whispered in my ears to give “space”. Space what? I asked Adi. Adi squinted his eyes, I realized what a fool I am, and immediately I and Adi were out of the room. This made Arusha and Amey suspicious of our behaviour and it kind of alerted their antlers for any further scrutiny. After we all had gathered and introduction was over we set the music on, atmosphere was all charged up with gossips, full throttled cheers. Simi, my friend was reminded of adding this line,” I am Simi and I am a girl” in her introduction, to videorecording, what a laugh we all had and she enjoyed it too. Actually she is a sweet friend of mine, a tomboy by instincts, always concerned for her friends and can pick up a fight with anyone who does anything wrong with her or her friends.
When all had gathered at my place, we went out to eat lunch at Mcdonald and then for the game of bowling at the bowling alley in the amoeba centre. There was a thrill, excitement of beating score with my friends; each of us was trying to defeat each other more so in words, prior to beginning of the game. We all had a great time in hitting our targets. Skill, excitement, seriousness of the game was depicting in every move. Anmol had made the game more hilarious, with all his power of grabbing attention before hitting the target, he would each time loose the target and score nothing but this did not dampen his spirit. Anmol, in spite of his broken plastered left arm which had got fractured, while skating on rip stick, was full of energy and excitement. All kids were distributed in two lanes, sid and yash were the highest scorers, and we all had fun there. Back home we had a great cake party with all add ons on the platter. The cake was awesome, amazingly decorated with three big caramel trumpets and caramel candy sticks, protruding out, sufficient enough for all to grab. Whole deco was accomplished with chocolate flowers with a creamy setting on the chocolate base cake. All kids had an appreciating eye for the cake and filled with watering mouths they were ready to pick up caramel candy sticks. The magical candles were lit up. Everyone sang birthday wishes in chorus rhythmic to the mood, I was feeling very proud of my parents who had helped me to make my day. I gave a kiss on my mom’s cheek and shared my piece of chocolate with my mom and dad too. All my friends enjoyed eating cake and other stuff.
After we went down to play a game of football, all girls and boys were running across and having fun in outsmarting the other player. Anmol had a problem; he was all time grabbing attention of Ash while talking with Arusha, perhaps he also had started getting butterflies in his stomach. Anmol and Ash have been very old neighbourhood pals but today was different, Anmol was ready to do things differently before parting for the day. Anmol took the courage to propose Ash to be his girlfriend, this triggered the Ash to say “yes”, and everything seemed beautiful. But perhaps, Ash was not ready to hold it for long time, may be her heart was somewhere else, she and Aryan were seen all day talking the whole world. Was this keeping her away, and here Anmol was feeling this heat over his friend. I had no idea, but Ash confided later in me that she has broken up with Anmol, and had called him to say that. This had broken Anmol’s heart and he had stopped talking to Ash, may be for the time being. This was the best day of the year, a day full of excitement, fun, love and feelings. I can never forget this day.
Happy birthday!!!!!!
